IT/ OT NETWORK TECHNICAN
If you are looking to start a career in the Public Utility Sector in the rapidly growing area of Northwest Arkansas, the Benton Washington Regional Public Water Authority is seeking an individual to fill a new full time permanent position that will start on January 3, 2022. The normal work hours for this position are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, and is eligible for full benefits after 30 days. After one year of employment, the employee will be eligible to participate in a 457 Retirement Plan with a 6% Company match and will be eligible to participate in the Tuition Assistance Program in pursuing Secondary Education courses.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Must be at least 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. Must currently have a clean driving record and reliable transportation to get to and from the job site. Applicants must be able to attend training classes which may involve overnight travel / and or attending evening and night classes. All applicants will have a criminal history background check performed on them and all applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen test prior to any offer of employment being made. Pursuant to ACT 593 of the Arkansas Code, this position has been deemed as a Safety Sensitive Job.
JOB SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS: This will be an entry level position working under the supervision of the IT / OT SCADA Manager and will include work that includes, but is not limited to the Authority's treatment facility and other system locations working on pumps, motors, chemical feed systems, instrumentation, electrical systems, PLC Systems, SCADA Systems, and the Authority's network systems.. This position has a preference for applicants that have 1 year of experience with electrical work or in computer network systems associated with a water treatment and distribution facility and has a minimum of 30 hours post High School training applicable to working with one or more of the following systems: electrical, PLC systems, SCADA, and/or office networking. However, while this is a preference, all training can be provided for the right applicant.
The position will also require that the employee enroll in the Journeyman Electrical Apprentice Training Program which will at the Authority's cost for tuition and books. This is a 4 year program that in which the employee , at the completion of the course, can test for their Journeyman Electrical License.. The position also requires that the employee also be able to obtain at a minimum, an Arkansas Grade 3 Water Distribution License within 18 months of hire. Again, all coursework necessary to obtain this license is paid by the Authority.
The Starting pay for this position is $18.00 per hour ($37,440 annually) to $25.00 per hour ($52,000 annually) depending on experience, training and current licensing.
