Maintenance Assistant / Specialist I

The Benton/Washington Regional Public Water Authority has a new position that is scheduled to start on, or shortly after, January 3, 2022. This position is a Full Time position (40 hours per week) and the normal work hours are Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. The position is eligible for Full Benefits after 30 days of employment. After one year of employment, employees are eligible to participate in the 457 Retirement Plan with matching deposits, and are eligible for Tuition assistance in pursuing a secondary education courses or degree programs.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: You must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a High School Diploma or equivalent. You must currently have a clean driving record and have reliable transportation. Applicants must be able to attend training classes which may involve overnight travel and/or attending evening/night courses. All applicants will have a criminal history background check performed on them, and all applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen test before any offer of employment is made. Pursuant to Arkansas ACT 593, this position has been deemed a Safety Sensitive Position. Additional job specific requirements can be seen below.
Maintenance Assistant Job Requirements - The Maintenance Assistant is an entry level position for unlicensed personnel required to maintain the Authority’s Water Treatment Plant, Distribution System, and other associated facilities. The applicant should have experience with mechanized equipment such as mowers, weed trimmers, tractors, and operating hand tools. Some maintenance experience on water system appurtenances, including but not limited to: pumps, motors, chemical feed systems, and treatment plants is preferred, however; all appropriate training to obtain the necessary licensing to move to the Maintenance Specialist I position will be provided by the employer. The employee must be able to obtain a minimum of an Arkansas Department of Health Grade 3 Distribution License within 12 months of their start date. The starting pay for the Maintenance Assistant is $15.00 per hour ($31,200 annually) to $25.00 per hour ($52,000 annually) depending on experience, qualifications, and current Arkansas Department of Health Water Operator Licenses.
