Preventative Maintenance Technician
This position is responsible for safety; production and quality by ensuring our machinery and mechanical equipment consistently operate in a safe and efficient manner throughout the facility.
Location: Ringgold Plant
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing job duties in a safe and conscientious manner, following all procedures and policies established for the plant, and calling attention to any unsafe acts observed in the work of others
- Must be able to work well with all levels of personnel whether individually or in a team environment and especially must be able to interface and communicate with operators in order to assist with repairs and troubleshooting
- Perform multi-craft (mechanical) associated with in-plant or facilities maintenance
- Read and interpret the standard prints, drawings, and schematics used in the building
- Identify the tools, equipment, and skills used in industrial plumbing pipefitting and HVAC
- Handle preventative maintenance equipment downtime situations and procedures
- Explain and apply the principles of fluid power and hydraulic systems and the associated equipment operations and maintenance skills
- Explain and apply the principles of electrical systems and the associated equipment operations and maintenance skills
- Learn the concepts of welding fundamentals, gas and arc, welding practices, and the proper use of equipment
- Ability to operate a forklift – forklift certification
- Ability to operate an Aerial Lift-Boom
- Determine modifications required when obstructions are met while installing equipment
- Actively participate in Rapid Improvement Events
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
- Perform other work as assigned
Physical Demands
- Moderate to heavy physical effort required
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Regularly required to sit or stand, reach and move about the facility

- Nonconductive safety glasses
- Hearing protection
- Safety shoes
- Other PPE as required per task
Work Environment
- Work performed in a Plant environment
- Exposed to any number of elements but with none present to the extent of being disagreeable
- Ability to climb up and down ladders on a daily basis
- Ability to hear alarms and sound of operating machinery
- Ability to work at heights above ground level
Education and Experience
- Must be able to read, comprehend, and write at the high school graduate or equivalent level
- Basic knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, pumps, welding, and piping
- Experience in checking motor controls and electrical circuits
- Knowledge of proper lubrication of equipment
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of SAP and computer data entry preferred
Certifications
An associate's degree in Industrial Systems or similar education is preferred. Will consider candidates with all skill levels from apprentice to advanced.
