About Us
Trailblazers + ETHIC is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit formed from a merger of the two organizations in 2021.
NWA Trailblazers has been working to develop multi-use and soft surface trails for nearly two decades. The Trailblazers specialize and excel at building quality soft-surface and paved trails and trail projects in a much quicker time frame than standard by utilizing qualified designers/contractors within their organization. In the past 15 years, the Trailblazers have developed over 300 miles of paved and soft surface trails (including the OZ Trails network) and continue to be the industry leader in trail development.
BikeNWA has been the region’s bicycle and pedestrian advocacy organization for more than two decades, working to create a more bike-friendly community by advocating for safe, connected bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure; supporting programs and events that foster a thriving, fun cycling culture; and ensuring that diverse constituencies have a voice in the development of new policies and infrastructure.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a talented, experienced, and entrepreneurial fundraising professional to help lead our public fundraising efforts. The candidate will work in a collaborative team environment leading fundraising to support the organization’s diverse range of programs and projects. We are looking for self-starter who can build a fundraising program focused on individuals and corporate partners. This person should be accomplished at developing strong relationships with donors, prospects, and supporters. This position requires someone steeped in ethical conduct, who respects confidentiality and conducts themselves in a professional manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate must have excellent interpersonal, communications, and technical skills. The role requires initiative and decisiveness combined with flexibility and a capacity to give and receive feedback graciously. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative colleague who can work effectively in a small and dynamic office.
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 3 years leading fundraising for a nonprofit (5 years preferred)
- CFRE professional certification preferred
- Proficient in using fundraising or CMS software (currently we use Bloomerang)
- Demonstrated ability to develop individual, corporate and sponsor relationships
- Experience building a development program from the start is preferred
- Experience working with fundraising for both reoccurring programs and special events (sponsorships)
- Demonstrated knowledge and best practices of fundraising and development
- Strong performance history of meeting deadlines, and working within established budgets
- Need to be a creative problem solver
- Must be patient and flexible in adjusting to changes in task scheduling and priorities
- Proven organizational and time-management skills, and solution-oriented
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, demonstrated capacity to meet deadlines, and a commitment to customer service
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team; able to shift gears quickly, efficiently, and frequently, and work with a variety of external stakeholders
- Intellectual agility and the ability to analyze, think critically, and understand emerging issues that are directly relevant to program funding areas
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, G Suite, Adobe Suite
- Valid driver’s license, proof of insurability
Job Duties:
- Planning, implementing, and overseeing a comprehensive fundraising program with the purpose of securing significant resources from individuals, foundations, corporations, and others in support of the organization’s mission.
- Managing all the organization’s fundraising efforts, including annual gift programs, planned and major gifts programs, capital campaigns and special projects, and donor/prospect information and research, education, cultivation, solicitation, and
- Working in partnership with the organization’s CEO, Managing Director, and Board of Directors to establish fundraising goals and objectives, including the coordination and motivation of participation by Board Members, staff, and volunteers in gift acquisition
- Create measurable goals to include major gifts, corporate sponsors, individual gifts, and annual giving program, grants, planned giving, and special
- Develop and nurture personal relationships required to deliver major gifts, corporate sponsors, individual gifts, grants and planned
- Manage all donor Ensure processes and systems are in place for timely, accurate, and grateful communications.
- Work with Director of Marketing, Encouragement Programs Manager, and Education Program Manager to ensure financial viability and sustainability of
- Work with Director of Marketing to deliver needed donor communications via website, email, social media, brochures, and Reach new audiences and build awareness.
- Initiate new processes to pursue Grants and Planned giving Create appropriate strategies, targets, begin developing relationships, and execute plans.
- Manage and leverage donor information and Ensure accurate data, reporting and auditing.
- Seek opportunities to grow professionally, leading to new ideas, techniques and programs that can improve overall financial and relational performance, as well as personal career

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the Director of Development is regularly required to stand; reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects and/or controls; move/carry files; and sit, walk, talk, and hear. The Development Director must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.
Specific vision abilities required to fulfill the duties of this job include close vision, the ability to perceive color, and the ability to adjust focus to handle extensive data collection, analysis, and summary reporting. The work environment is typical for this type of job, and the noise level in the work environment is normal for that of a small to mid-sized office.
